DS SolidWorks provides me with a non-commercial license of SolidWorks Premium. They have also invited me to press events and conferences, such as SolidWorks World, free of charge and, at times, they have also provided for accomodations, some meals and transportation. I don't, however, receive any payment for blogging or instructions on what I should write about. Everything that I post in this blog is my own opinion and does not reflect or represent in any way the ideas of DS SolidWorks.

Well, the PhotoWorks/PhotoView  Rendering Contest is over and a winner has been declared… and of course, it wasn’t me. Congratulations to Cilas Gimenez for a super cool render! The really sad part for me is that I got even less votes this time than the last one. Well, guess I have to practice a bit more!

This is my entry to the contest, by the way. I only got three votes for this one this time. Do you think it was that bad?

Check out the rest of the entries and, of course, the winner of this month’s contest, at Rob Rodriguez Blog.  In the meantime, I’ll keep trying and perhaps someday I’ll get lucky!

  • CrazyCAD:

that rendering looks good, but front of the car looks not so shiny as the rear.

  • Yeah, that was my fault… I tried to give it a special effect by using a decal, but it backfired on me. :-( Live and learn, I guess! :-)

  • Josh:

I like it Gabi. I like how the glow up front is different. kinda like it’s sitting under an overpass or sumthin. NICE.

  • Thanks, Josh! My original plan for this particular image included taking a nice picture of my driveway and placing the car as if it was parked there, right next to my husband’s jeep, but I never got to do that, so I thought about the decal instead. It’s been busy here… and I most admit I sort of procrastinated on this one too. Oh well, there’s always next time!

  • Even the slowest runner at the Olympics runs faster than I do. The one thing I saw from others that I don’t see in yours is atmosphere. You have a car sitting on a black mirror. It’s not very realistic. I personally liked Chris Thorn’s because of the attention to detail and the background. That said, I love the coloring you did on the front end of the car and will expect a blog entry on ‘How-To’ for that one. ;)
