That’s right! I’m giving away ten coupons for a free SolidWorks certification test. Five will be given to readers of this blog and the other five to readers of SolidWorks para Todos, my blog in Spanish. Now the really neat thing is that once you win one of these coupons you can actually choose which of the five certification tests available you want to take:
- CSWP-Core Modeling Specialist: (8,329 certified professionals worldwide)
- CSWP-Advanced Sheet Metal: (457 certified worldwide so far)
- CSWP-Advanced Surfacing: (61 certified worldwide so far)
- CSWP-FEA (Simulation): (35 certified worldwide so far)
- CSWA (Education): (8,086 certified worldwide and growing every minute)
Usually, you would have to pay up to $100 dollars to take a certification test, but today ten lucky readers will have it for free!
You can find more information about each of these tests and what you need to know in order to pass by visiting the SolidWorks Certification Homepage.
Let me tell you, I’ve taken and passed both the CSWA and CSWP-core exams, and I’m currently preparing for the Advanced Sheet Metal test. I see obtaining that certification as an important milestone in my learning process, as a way to have something to show for all the effort I’ve put in training myself, and as a “secret weapon” that can even open a few doors when it comes to job search. Last year, for instance, when a local reseller called me about a job as an Applications Engineer, they told me that one of the things that made my resume stand out from a list of possible matches for that position was precisely that I was a CSWP. I didn’t apply for that position because it wasn’t a good match for my own crazy life back then, but see? Right there, there was a job and all because I was a CSWP!
And I’ve heard that the certification process has been greatly improved ever since I took those two tests. Now it’s even easier than ever to access the certification center to take the exam and also to access information about your results and other certifications previously obtained. And if you manage a team of users, you can set up certification tests for all of them and even track their progress.
OK, so this is how you can get the free test… First I thought about making you guys design the perfect pet door for me. See, I have this little Chihuahua mutt that keeps soiling my carpet, and I bought a pet door that was supposed to work fine with my sliding glass door to the backyard… Err… Never mind that! All you have to do is leave a comment here saying, in your own words, why you want to get certified. That’s it! Very simple! The winners will be chosen at random from all the entries. Hurry up! Winners will be announced by Tuesday 21st at 11:00 am PT. You can also send an email or use the contact form, just remember to use a valid email address so I can contact you back and give you information about how to redeem your coupon for the free test!
Good luck!

The more snazzy acronyms under my name the better.
a solidworks certification proves that i am capable of using solidworks as a tool to do my job. so it will help when applying for a job.that’s why i need to get certified.
This is something I have wanted and needed to do for a long time.
Easy doorstep to pursue a job in the field of interest – 3d modeling
using mobile to eagerly enter so.. No long message. Thankyou.
I was told by a third party that “IF” I was certified, I would be chosen for a “Dream Job” position with a company that values Quality and Precision, thats why they use SW. I will be graduating from a two year Tech. school in September and all they taught was AutoBAD, I am a self taught Intermediate SolidWorks LOVER. I call it a Parametric Solver!
Thank you for this Great opportunity.
P.S I am also unemployed right now and could not afford the $100 to take the exam.

I am a mechanical engineer that uses Solidworks daily. I think the company I work for will be out of business in the next 3 months due to poor sales. A Solidworks certification will really help me get a new job. I taught myself to use Solidworks a few years ago in college and really enjoy it. A certification will show people that I am a genuine expert which I can use to attain a job with more challenging design. I would like to use this certification to get a job that requires complex modelling of which I know I am capable.
I don’t have a degree and it would be really nice to have some piece of paper to show that I am actually able to use the software I say I can when I apply for jobs.
I have passed the CSWA at 100% a piece of cake. A couple of weeks ago I took the CSWP exam and fail it terribly. The first third of the test is based on one model that you modify. On the second question I modified one of the features wrong and did not realize it, all the answers after that were incorrect. I’d like another chance at it.
My company’s been hit by the slowdown; as yet there haven’t been any layoffs, but with 5 out of 6 major projects cancelled it’s hard to find enough justifiable work to keep everyone busy. Besides reflecting the value of the skills I’ve developed over nearly ten years of working with SW, a CSWP will improve my odds of retaining my job if management decides we need to make changes, and will give me a better chance of finding a job (particularly one where I’ll get to use SW more frequently) if I do find myself looking.
I have wanted this for so long. I am a poor college student graduating next month and this could really help me separate myself when I look for a job.
I would really like to take the exam. They are about to start laying people off at my office and this could really help.
I really need to pass the CSWA for a moral/confidence boost if not to get me out of half a year of unemployment.
Keep meaning to take the test but can’t afford to fail it.
Now it became a passion for me to get this certification
Now it’s a passion for me to get this certification
I teach at a Area Technology Center, Machine tool technology. I have used SolidWorks since version 5. My students have gone to sate competition in KY for 4 years and placed 2nd and 3rd in the automated manufacturing contest that we have been in. Also I have had two students take the CSWA exam and pass it, the only in my state and TN. I feel that if I had the CSWP certification my pears would look up and take notice at what a good job I am doing for our upcoming engineers’ CNC programmers, and Cad operators that I put out ever year.
I hope I can take SW to the next level in my life.
I have passed the CSWA at 100% a piece of cake. Now i have 1year of experience so looking for CSWP and Sheetmetal with passion to beat my competitors in my company.
