DS SolidWorks provides me with a non-commercial license of SolidWorks Premium. They have also invited me to press events and conferences, such as SolidWorks World, free of charge and, at times, they have also provided for accomodations, some meals and transportation. I don't, however, receive any payment for blogging or instructions on what I should write about. Everything that I post in this blog is my own opinion and does not reflect or represent in any way the ideas of DS SolidWorks.

I apologize for not finding time to blog about it until now. There’s just so much going on at SolidWorks World and I didn’t want to miss any of it!  This is my short chronicle of the CSWP event this year.

The event took place inside  one of the Hilton’s  ballrooms.  A band was playing loud music non-stop in the back of the room, while hundreds of CSWP’s were mingling, eating, drinking and having fun racing some awesomely cool  R/C cars that were gracefully provided by AE Team associated.

There were tracks designed for the beginner, average and expert driver, but they all seemed the same to me, given that all the times I tried driving one of those cars I couldn’t even make it complete one single turn without jumping out of the track and attacking unsuspecting innocent people standing by.

To all those that I hurt and maimed that night, I’m deeply sorry. It wasn’t me, it was the car. Seriously!  Ricky Jordan, on the other hand, was an expert driver. He told me he used to drive R/C cars since he was a young boy.

By the way, did you notice the hood that is placed at the foot of the band? Every year, there’s something for all CSWP to sign, as a memento I guess. Last year it was a large LEGO wall; this year it was the hood of a  truck, similar to those we were driving that night, but lifesize.

Of course, I made sure my name was big and visible. :-)

Phil Sluder was there with a super cool invention of his. This really nice toy that shoots a ring of  foam/NERF like material  flying accross the room, like a modern slingshot. The toy is easy to operate, requires no batteries or special supplies and the ring is soft enough to not cause any damage to people and objects it may hit. As a mom, that sounds like a keeper!  Here’s a little video I found about it.

As the event came to a close, a raffle took place.  Forty R/C vehicles and a brand new DELL laptop  were given away to some very lucky winners that night. Sadly, I wasn’t among the lucky winners, but I still had lots of fun. Thanks to Mike Pucket and his team for making this event possible!
